Hey everyone! Today I want to talk about timing and the importance of acting at the right time. I am going to start by spoiling the conclusion for you now. The time to start pursuing your dreams, achieve your goals, start that business, whatever it is that you are waiting on.. the time is now! There you go, that’s the spoiler, just begin.
In all seriousness there is a such thing as the write and wrong time to start your pursuit. What do I mean by that, you might be wondering. What I mean is that you have to have a progressive plan or idea to pursue first. If you do not you will be like a ship without a rudder, just being carried by the wind wherever it is the wind wants you to go. You must first know why you are doing it and create a simple plan on how to get to your goals, then you may start.
There is a messing of ideas around this, one camp says “When x,y, or z happens, then I will start…”, “When I get my next raise”, “When the kids are older”, the list goes on and on. This camp believes that there is going to be a grandiose billboard that will make the conditions right to start. Which sadly, there is not ever going to be that perfect time to start pursuing your dreams. Because there is always going to be something, and that something is called life, it is going to happen and before you know it, your life will be over.
Then, there is the next camp, which I subscribe to more often than not. The second camp comes in like a bull in a china shop. They do not know all of the information, they might not even know half of the information. What they will do is get into action and figure out the details later. Some of them might not even look for the answers. This group of people know what they want, and know what to do to get it.* They jump right into action and will make a mess of it then figure out how to clean it up.
There is actually a middle ground, where you plan for the learn as you go. As we call it at Keller Williams, the Learn to Earn method of getting into action. You learn just what you need at that very moment and start tackling it until you get to the next obstacle and tackle that one, and so on and so forth. Get into action now so that in 6 months you can look back and reassure yourself that you made the right move. Because action is always the right move. If you do not start you never will. Take the leap, believe in yourself, and stop making excuses for yourself to not fulfill your dreams. If you don’t fulfill your dreams, you will end up helping someone else achieve theirs.
I hope you got something out of this. If there is a topic you would like me to write about or anything you might see me improving upon please let me know! I am always open to learning a better way of doing things!
Until next time, signing off,
-Michael, Just Michael
